SharpNet congratulates our October 2021 Employee of the Month, Kandra Sinz! Kandra, who works as the digital marketing lead at our Idaho office, is a talented website designer who is an integral part of our web development department, a respected leader, a knowledgeable account manager, and an indispensable member of our SharpNet team. When she’s not busy being creative or solving problems at work, she enjoys painting, crocheting, knitting, sewing, interior design, hunting, hiking, photography, and sports. “Anything that involves adventure, competition, or adrenaline,” she explains. Kandra lives in Challis, Idaho, and has a German shepherd/corgi mix named Remington, lovingly referred to as “Remi.”

Here are some other fun facts about Kandra!

Before working at SharpNet, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’d ever had?

K: It’s a toss-up between four-wheeling 15 miles at 5 a.m. in −30 degree weather to milk cows on a dairy farm or serving small banquets and guests at a hotel named the Inn of the Six Toed Cat.

How did you first learn about SharpNet?

K: I was happily working another job when a lady I briefly met called me to tell me that SharpNet was buying the building she was renting and she recommended me to the owner.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

K: My favorite part of my job is designing sites. I love anything that flexes my creative brain. I also love more technical problems that I have to dig to find. It’s kind of like a good mystery to find problems that are elusive.

How has SharpNet helped you in your career development?

K: Where do I start? In comparison to the knowledge I have now, I knew nothing when I started here, and now to be in the position I am today, it is humbling. It’s not every day you get an awesome company to take a risk on hiring you. Second best decision I think I have ever made.

If you could pick one theme for SharpNet to turn into a book about the company, what would it be?

K: I feel like it would be an inspirational success story with Chris as the main character, seeing potential in each member of the team and creating an environment where everyone has the ability to thrive. Learning how to overcome obstacles and bend the definition of success to his dream.

Any random facts you could share?

K: Um… pretty sure I am the most uncool person there is… let’s see. I won two college scholarships for singing in high school. Love to hunt with my dad and brothers (only girl struggles), winter is my favorite season, my design eye comes from my mom, and my singing voice definitely doesn’t come from my dad. Does that work?

Are you messy or organized?

K: Very organized… My team loves my spreadsheets… at least I think they do.

Best vacation you’ve been on?

K: Any trip that my dad is on with me… It’s a wonder I have not won America’s Funniest Home Videos from all the crazy situations he gets himself into on vacation. Think falling tarantulas and tubing in a whirlpool, you get my drift.

If you could be any force of nature, what would it be?

K: I thought I already was… ?

“I love anything that flexes my creative brain. I also love more technical problems that I have to dig to find. It’s kind of like a good mystery to find problems that are elusive.”
