Before White-Label Had a Name
Founded on September 1, 1998, after months of groundwork that started in December 1997, SharpNet launched into an internet that was still in its infancy. It didn’t look for trends. It just focused on one thing, helping businesses grow online. From day one, that meant offering SEO and PPC, and not long after, website design. Over time, that evolved into a white-label model that would help to reshape how agencies deliver digital marketing.
The concept of white-label didn’t exist in the early 2000s, not in the way we think of it now. But SharpNet was already doing it. Agencies would come with their clients. By 2002, SharpNet had already grown to over 150 SEO clients, mostly direct, but with a few early agency relationships baked in. These weren’t casual referrals.
