Here are some other fun facts about Gillian!

Before working at SharpNet, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’d ever had?

G: Owning my own virtual assistance company was a very interesting experience for me. It gave me the chance to work on projects for a vast variety of interesting clients from an author traveling the world full time with his family to the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation!

How did you first learn about SharpNet?

G: Like many people in 2020, I found myself looking for a new job and I was invited to apply to SharpNet on Indeed!

How do you balance your career at SharpNet and your free time?

G: I appreciate the “work hard/play hard” mentality here at SharpNet. From 9-5, you won’t see anyone sitting around with nothing to do, but we are encouraged to stop checking our email when we walk out the door. I feel that the work/life balance culture at SharpNet actually promotes a higher quality of work from the employees! It’s been such a healthy shift for my life.

How has SharpNet helped you in your career development?

G: I remember during my interview I was told that the first year here would be equivalent to getting a “4-year SharpNet degree.” Now that I’m halfway through my first year, I see how true that is! SharpNet has helped me tremendously with filling in the gaps of my marketing knowledge as well as giving me the chance to hone my prior skills. I love being surrounded by so many smart, creative individuals!

If you could pick one theme for SharpNet to turn into a book about the company, what would it be?

G: I think if a book were written about SharpNet, each department would be represented by a different group of cartoon characters. My fellow social department pals and I would definitely be the “social butterflies.”

Any random facts you could share?

G: In 2013, my husband and I sold everything we owned and moved from Ohio to Colorado with our two boys. It was a pivotal moment in my life and really stretched my perspective from growing up in a smaller town. Living by the mountains always reminds me that there is something bigger than myself!

Are you messy or organized?

G: A mixture—I’m a notorious note taker and I have my own “system” of organization but it’s a bit chaotic… As much as I wish I could be at a Type A level of organization, I’ll always be a bit messy. I call it “creativity.”

Best vacation you’ve been on?

G: When I graduated high school, my grandmother took me on a road trip all over the West. We swam in the beaches of California, relaxed at a horse ranch in Arizona, and visited the Grand Canyon among our many adventures together. She was a pretty rad woman.

If you could be any force of nature, what would it be?

G: The moon… I’m one of those people who is always saying, “Wow, look at the moon!” It has a special meaning to me.
